As many of you brides who have an upcoming wedding know, the process of finding the right decorations, someone to do them, or a company that provides them, or simply deciding on the right scheme can be quite daunting. Not to mention you've already likely paid good money for a venue, photographer , food & beverage costs, entertainment for guests, etc. Now you have to pay someone to decorate too? If you have the right team, the vision, and the patience, do it yourself wedding decorations and themes can be a great way to add a personal touch to a wedding, get exactly what you want, and not go over budget! We recently had the honor of shooting The Bowers wedding at Black Mountain Sanctuary in Black Mountain, NC. Initially we were surprised to find out that the family had decided to do the flowers, decorations, and table settings themselves. In our experience, it usually turns out nice but very simple, not too much to it. Boy did Sean & Andie's wedding set a new precedent. Pictured above in the hands of the the bride and her beautiful bridesmaids are the amazing bouquets made by the family using wildflowers. They turned out festive, full, and showcased an variety of beautiful colors that helped add vibrance to the entire day!
As if the flowers weren't amazing enough, their families also added their own special touch to the tables and some unique creations to help commemorate the special day! They were even able to use pallets to create the schedule of the days events as pictured below!
At the end of the day, we know plenty of professionals who do an absolutely amazing job when it comes to setting up for a wedding. They put their heart and soul into it. They bring their art and client's visions to life. But, if you find that you have a desire to put your special touch on an occasion, have confidence as this blog serves to show that it can be done, and done very well! It will take effort, planning, and inspiration but if you are willing to put in the time and effort, you will be able to add to the memories that will last a life time.
