Close your eyes. We want you to imagine a place surrounded by lush green forestry. Add in the sound and site of one of the most beautiful sections of the French broad river flowing by. Now, think of the bluest skies, a beautifully crafted bridge to cross the water, walking paths, fire pits, and plenty of room for the entire family to enjoy this serene perfection, sound too good to be true? Then you haven’t been to the Olivette in Asheville. As wedding photographers in Asheville, we are blessed to come across all kinds of amazing wedding venues, but the Olivette is by far one of our favorite! The scenery described makes for an amazing outdoor wedding!
On our most recent trip to the Olivette, we had the privilege of capturing Alison & Beau’s beautiful wedding day. Alison and Beau wanted a more laid back feel with plenty of candid captures of the happenings of the day as they unfold. In fact, one of the more popular requests from our wedding photography clients is to capture the essence of the day! People in their natural state having fun and that’s just what we did! As previously mentioned in the description of the Olivette, the lay out lends itself to being the perfect location for plenty of fun which was perfect as there were plenty of kiddos at this wedding and they had all the room to run around and play, make smores by the fire pit, and blow bubbles (a lot of bubbles!).
Between the casual fun, the dancing, and those just happy to be see their friends and loved ones, it would’ve been nearly impossible to have a bad day! Whether you wanted to mix and mingle or just sit back and enjoy the view, the Olivette has a little something for everyone at the wedding.
But of course, as always :) the true story of the day was the bride and groom! Alison and Beau told us beforehand they didn’t want a ton of pictures of just them as spending time with their loved ones was the most important thing for them on that day. So Jenny and I arrived early, scouted out the spots we thought were the perfect setting for photos and game planned how we could make things flow without holding them up from their party. For being a couple that didn’t want a whole lot of ‘just them’ pictures, they were simply amazing to work with. After getting warmed up with the traditional photos post ceremony, Beau & Alison appeared happy to slow down for a minute and just enjoy the moment with each other. They shined on their big day and every time they looked at each other you knew this was meant to be.
Though we’ve had the pleasure of working at the Olivette before for Bridal sessions, this was our first Olivette wedding! We could not have been more with how the day unfolded. From the helpful on site coordination provided by the Olivette, to the perfect lighting for the ceremony and majority of the day, to having such an amazing and down to earth couple to work with, this wedding was hard to beat! We look forward to our next trip back to the Olivette and we will always remember Alison and Beau’s perfect wedding day!
A big special thanks to Dean's Duets for providing the live entertainment for the day and to Farm to Fender for providing some of the best brisket we've had since moving to Asheville, hands down!
Until next time, stay blessed!
