1 month ago Jenny and I were blessed with the opportunity of a lifetime! We traveled to Bermuda for our first out of country destination wedding! The experience was unlike any other and we have Sally & Bryan as well as their amazing family and friends to thank for that. Like many of the awesome couples whom we work with for their wedding day, we get to meet them beforehand and often times really get to know them over dinner or an engagement session before their wedding day. With Sally and Bryan not only did we get to shoot their lovely engagement session at The Biltmore, but we got to travel across the globe with them and spend and entire week with them and their closest loved ones before their big day! We shared laughs, shots (it still burns), beautiful sites, mopeds, and deliciously expensive cuisine throughout the island, but more importantly we made memories! Having this opportunity to hang with their friends and family before the big day was great as well because you truly get to see the ins and outs of everything leading up to the wedding day. Being photojournalistic in our style, this was a dream because not only did we get to capture the wedding day but we got to document much of the behind the scenes stuff you don’t typically see before the wedding. From enjoying (I mean really enjoying) a game of cards against humanity to just exploring the beauty and history of the island, we made connections we wouldn’t usually get to make and we got to see the real bonds between best friends and family.
Our journey to Bermuda started back in January when we shot Sally & Bryan’s engagement session. We instantly hit it off and these two couldn’t have been anymore dynamite on camera! From talking to them throughout the session, you could tell their love of life was as strong as their love for each other. Hearing their stories about traveling and the different experiences they had, it was no surprise when they told us they were doing a destination wedding in Bermuda. Soon after we their session was over and they had received their image gallery, we received a phone call and they asked us if we would like to travel to Bermuda with them to shoot their wedding? Our first thoughts were, “shut up!” I think second thought was like “stop jerking our chain” lol, but they were serious and as much as it felt like a dream, it would soon become a reality.
After months of planning, anticipation, and coordination, the week had finally arrived and now looking back, we are beyond grateful for the trust Sally & Bryan had in us to capture their big day, the memories we’ve made with them as well as their loved ones, and the connection we’ve made with them as friends! It’s indescribable how surreal it all feels even now, but as usual we hope that the visuals will do better justice than our story telling abilities! Enjoy following along on this week in paradise!
