After the snow this week and the overnight transformation of Asheville and the surrounding areas to a winter wonderland, fall probably feels like it was months ago! Thankfully a little bit of scrolling should warm your heart and soul and put your right back in that place and we can all thank Cara and Charlie for that!
Our journey with Cara and Charlie started earlier this year when in February (it was cold then too!). We received an email from Cara as she was looking for someone to capture her special day in! She informed us she would be getting married at Homewood in Asheville in October! It was going to be a more intimate style wedding mostly family and close friends and it was also going to be on a Thursday which we were psyched about because most of our Saturdays had already been booked about 12 months prior! Cara had informed us that her and Charlie had recently traveled to Scotland and they fell in love with the aesthetic of the highland castles. She also described the vision for a formal fall wedding and how Homewood had perfectly fit what they were looking for! After a few email exchanges and getting to know Cara a little bit, we could tell that her and Charlie were an adventurous duo! Spending a lot of their time hiking and exploring with their fur baby Lulu! After finally getting to meet her and Charlie one morning for a late breakfast at Tupelo Honey, we talked wedding details, got to know them both, and before you know it, were scheduling their engagement pictures before the big day!
For their engagement session, they chose one of the more popular spots around here and one our favorite locations to shoot, Craggy Gardens! Unfortunately, even though it was sunny and 70 down in Asheville that day, by the time we made it up to the 6,000ft elevation that Craggy sits at, the weather had drastically changed. It was in the mid 40s and the wind was whipping, the clouds had rolled in thick! Not exactly what they were envisioning for their engagement photos, especially since they brought little Ms. Lulu with them as well. Their schedule was tight and figuring out another day we would be able to venture up into the mountains wasn’t looking good so they were cool to improvise and we were able to find a fun little spot on the Blue Ridge Parkway back down the mountain a little bit. We’re so glad everything worked out the way it did because Cara and Charlie rocked their engagement session! We sat in the middle of the road and we climbed on some down trees, and even Lulu got in on the action!
After their lovely engagement session, we had what seemed like forever before we would see Cara and Charlie again, but with the fast pace of the action packed year we had, October was here before we knew it and these two truly could not have picked a better day for their beautiful fall wedding. The colors were popping, these two were glowing, and the attention to lovely details by the team at Flowers By Larry gave this wedding day just the right touch of fall harvest florals. We hope you enjoy this love story and the scenery as you follow along!
Big congrats again to Cara and Charlie and a special thank you to the amazing wedding vendors that helped bring this day to life!
