“We’re awkward when we take pictures.” It’s something we hear a lot before working with the awesome couples we come to know! Truth be told, we think most of the couples with this concern are just being very modest because every time it always turns out to be a little less awkward and way more awesome! Liz and Gris were one of those couples with that concern but the day of their wedding portrait session and their wedding day, was anything but weird! These these two were the epitome of cool! During their wedding portrait session rarely did we have a dull moment and on the day of their wedding at the century room, they picked right up where they left off, having fun and exuding love!
What’s a wedding portrait session? It’s basically the best thing ever. These type of portrait sessions are when you decide to schedule an entirely different day to take your couples photos for your wedding. There are a multitude of reasons for this but ultimately it saves you stress, maximizes your time to capture photos as a couple (especially if you have a tight timeline), and it allows you to get more outdoor photos then you would when let’s say if you had terrible weather on your wedding day? When we first met with Liz and Gris at Thirsty Monk in downtown Asheville to discuss the vision for their day, it seemed like this might be a great option for them based on their timeline, budget, and location of their venue. Once we explained how it worked they fell in love with the idea of doing something a bit more relaxed, intimate, in nature, and with their super cute fur baby, Beans! The session was everything it was meant to be! These lovely ladies had time to be themselves and hangout beforehand with Beans, add that to the peaceful nature vibes of their Air BnB property, it was just the right combo to put these ladies at ease.
A few weeks after their portrait sesison, their special day had finally arrived! Their wedding was held at The Century Room in downtown Asheville. The design team at Events by Kiersa as well as the florals from Flora knocked it out of the park for their decor. Their attention to detail along with the natural light and ambience of the venue itself was inspiring to say the least. The size of their wedding was relatively small in terms of guest count, but it was full of love and some of the best dance moves we’ve seen in a while. It was capped off at the end of the night by an epic dance off between Liz and her dad battling to “Footloose” while surrounded by friends and family! Smile inducing if we may say so!
Congratulations to Liz and Gris and special thanks to all of the vendors who helped make this day possible! Thanks as always for following along!
