2020 year in review!

Updated: Feb 17

Disclaimer: In order to avoid beating a dead horse by talking about how crazy 2020 was, we’re going to stay true to our nature and focus on the positive parts of our year, many of which were the moments we were blessed to share with you all! With that, we have our 2020 year in review! We were beyond grateful for being able to keep everything moving forward this past year as a small business. For us that meant being able to continue serving others and doing what we love! Many of our couples and their families had to be resilient due to the plethora of curveballs thrown their way, but one thing that remained constant and gave us all hope was the notion that love is not cancelled!

2020 By the numbers

65 Weddings & Elopements - (49 JCM; 16 BALSAM MOUNTAIN)

37 Different venues

16 Private property/air bnb weddings/scenic locations

35% of our weddings were outside of Asheville/WNC

7 States - (NC, SC, GA,Pennsylvania, Maryland, Wyoming, and Colorado)

292,500 - Approximate number of wedding photos taken

31% - Of our couples also had an engagement session

366 - Hours of wedding photography (prev. 682)

62% - Of our weddings happened in the timespan of 3 months (September 1st to December 1st)

*******358 weddings/elopements in 5 years*******

3 things that stood out to us from this year from a statistical standpoint were:

  • The reduction in overall hours (366 vs 682). Even though we still had a lot of weddings/elopements this year, many of them downsized and didn’t require as many hours.

  • Private property/air bnb/scenic area weddings went up by 60% for us. This also increased from 2018 to 2019 for various reasons, but with all of the government restrictions placed upon a lot of folks this year, we saw a significant increase. The main reason we heard from the majority of our couples why they wanted to have their wedding at a private property was due to venues having too many restrictions.

  • Our weddings were much more condensed due to all the dates moved from spring to fall. We usually have approximately 75 - 80% of our weddings in our peak 6 months, but this year 62% of the weddings and elopements we were apart of took place in just 3 months!

Special Thanks:

We can’t thank all of our amazing couples and their families enough for their continued faith in us to capture your all of your moments! Especially this year where things were anything but normal. The support we felt this year by you all is hard to put into words with everything that happened. We want you all to know we are going to continue to do all we can to make sure we make your wedding day an amazing experience you will never forget, no matter what that looks like in the future! Big thank you to our talented team! This year we saw so many couples forced to reschedule because of government shut downs, etc. and we would not have been able to manage everything as well without the help of our team filling in to help no matter what the situation or where. We love you guys and we couldn’t be more proud to be on this journey with all of you! Lastly, a special thank you to all of the wedding vendors we regularly work with and many of the new ones we were blessed to connect with as well. Part of the fun of what we do serving couples is made even better by doing it with other fun like minded people. We’re looking forward to rocking more weddings with you all this coming year!

As always, we’ve included one image from every wedding/elopement this year below! We hope you all enjoy!
