We always end up loving the offseason for a multitude of reasons but one of our favorites is getting caught up on blogs! It’s not so much the blog writing itself, but the opportunity to look back over the course of an entire year and figure out whose wedding or session we want to feature and why. As busy as we’re blessed to be, there’s always a few where we’re like “What, no way that was this year!? Yep, it was this year.” (Lol). What can we say time flies when you’re having fun. Oftentimes this process occurs and we end up finding a few we almost forgot about due to the rush of busy season. Then there are some that we know half way through the session or wedding, that are definitely going to be featured. Lauren and Griffin’s engagement and wedding at The Parker Mill was definitely one of the latter! Some couples follow trends and some couples follow their hearts. Lauren and Griffin definitely followed their hearts and stayed true to themselves during our time with these two!
When they told us they wanted to incorporate gaming as a part of their engagement we were stoked for a couple of reasons. One, any time we can get a couple in their comfort zone early on into a session, it usually makes the rest of the process a breeze. Secondly, having grown up basically glued to my gaming systems, I can relate to the joy and relaxation that comes with this activity. Also, if I’m being honest, for us it was something different than the usual and we’re always up for a new challenge. Getting to shoot the majority of our work in scenic places around the country, there’s a tendency to get spoiled and get used to it, so any time we’re given the opportunity to test out different lighting combos, skills, and compositions from indoors or urban landscapes, we’re always stoked to give it a go! As you’ll see, these two crushed it!

From our perspective, their wedding day was perfect! Special little touches were spread throughout to honor their loved ones as well as their special connection. The fall weather in NC could not have been any better. They were treated to a beautiful sunset on The Parker Mill’s mountain top. They also had a firework show to cap off an already amazing day, and we didn’t even touch on these Star Wars fans getting Chewbacca to crash their wedding (yes you read that right), and what would this fun time being without a little video game action thrown in? All in all, it was idyllic from beginning to end but I think our favorite part of the day was the absolute joy that Lauren exudes. She is one of those people whose smile and joy is contagious and never was that more apparent than when her and Griffin were together! We hope you all enjoy following along on their amazing wedding day!
