Catching up on spring wedding blogs used to be easy during July and August, but ever since we made the move out west during the summers, it’s been like one continuous peak season lately. Thankfully we found ourselves with a couple of days to catch up on all things life and work, and we just had to take a few minutes to share one of our favorite weddings from this past spring in Asheville! This story starts about 17 months before the actual wedding date. I know it seems crazy, but 4 or 5 years ago, May and October were the only months that would really see this kind of demand for weddings, but as Asheville has grown in popularity for destination weddings and elopements, more and more couples are booking 12+ months out for those neighboring months like April and September as well! Our friend and amazing planner (no seriously go check her out) Erica with Rising Fern Events reached out about a couple she had recently connected with and they were starting the process of finding their wedding photographer. With her client centered approach, she felt we would be a great fit and wanted us to reach out. I’m glad we did because it led to us also connecting with Angela and David! Soon after our call with them, they let us know that they wanted us to capture their special day at Highland Brewing Co! Side bar, we always try to do a call with our couples beforehand because we want to get to know them and get their vibe to make sure we’re all a great fit for each other. During this process we usually take notes as well because the little details matter and we want to make sure we have everything we need leading into a couple’s wedding day. Funny enough, we realized at the end of our conversation, we took like two sentences worth of notes lol. We got so wrapped up in our conversation with David and Angela that we totally spaced. Thankfully it didn’t end up mattering too much in the grand scheme of things. After a fun engagement session in Asheville that saw these cuties rock two of our favorite local spots, we could hardly for their wedding day!
By the time their wedding rolled around, it felt like we were getting to spend day with two old friends. We were truly looking forward to this one The spring weather here in the Blue Ridge Mountains was perfect, they picked an absolute all-star team of vendors, and their wedding parties were as fun as they come, how could this not be the perfect day!? After all of the nervous excitement to start the day, we were on our way to the forest area for Angela and David’s first look! Yes, in addition to amazing beer, Highland Brewing has a wooded area and other cool features on their property that make it a super fun place to shoot with a ton of variety. After a sweet first look, these two picked up right where they left off rocking it in front of our lenses. As their ceremony drew near, all of the final details were put into place. Another fun fact for this one, many of the little details for their big day were completely custom and DIY by Angela. Knowing this made it even more special as we documented all of the fun and unique details for their ceremony and reception space. As the soft light of the day wrapped everything in it’s beautiful embrace, these two said their I dos and celebrated with one of the most fun receptions we can remember in recent times (shout out to our friend David with Carolina DJ pros who rocked the reception). Big congrats to Angela and David, special thanks to this amazing vendor team, and as always, we hope you all enjoy following along!
